Retro City Rampage DX
Retro City Rampage DX is an open-world action-adventure for mobile.
This is an enhanced version of Vblank Entertainment’s Retro City Rampage dating back to 2002. Each advantage from previous iterations was added to this port with the promise of the most refined gameplay experience. This is not a free app, so a one-time purchase is required before you can start exploring what the game has to offer.
And the retro this is. Set in 1985, you take the role of “the Player”: a henchman working under the supercriminal Jester. You’ll be ‘rescued’ by a time-traveling phone booth after a botched robbery attempt, only to get stuck in a new timeline.
The game centers around retrieving parts to repair the now-broken time machine. Playing the main story might be too linear for some, but there are a plethora of challenges and side quests the Player can do while not trying to advance the story.
The gameplay is just like what the title says: go on a rampage in a retro city. Score points by wreaking havoc on unaware and unwilling citizens of Theftropolis. Run over pedestrians, bump other vehicles off the road, and take out cops who will try and put a stop to your insanity. Mobile controls make use of a direction pad for navigation and action buttons. You can shoot on the move, shoot from cover, get behind barricades and obstacles, and hop aboard a car. You can jump aboard any car in the game, but you would have to kick the driver out on some of them. Vehicle controls will be different. You get buttons for forward and reverse gear. The direction pad is plainly for steering your vehicle to where you want.
You will come across innumerable pop-culture parodies. Theftropolis’ versions of movies, comic books, and other fictional personalities are mostly out there to take you to the Game Over screen.
In short, Retro Rampage DX gives you non-stop chaotic fun.
